Obama's Lowlights (9/19/11)

New Online Game – Try your luck at a new online game to see how many Tea Party Zombies you can kill.

Mexican Drug Cartels – According to the Wall Street Journal, the DOJ released an Arizona man who confessed to supplying Mexican drug cartels with grenades and other weaponry.

Oil Industry – The American Petroleum Institute issued a report saying the industry can create one million new jobs if a Canada to Texas pipeline is constructed; if natural gas exploration is expanded in New York and other states; and if proposals to expand offshore drilling are allowed.

Michigan – Michigan enacted a law that will place a 4 year limit on welfare. It was only a matter of time before this type of reform was put in place. States and the federal government simply cannot afford to issue individuals a lifetime of welfare benefits.

Unions – Hundreds of unionized longshoremen stormed a Washington State port – they destroyed goods and took hostages over a labor dispute. Miraculously, no one was hurt or arrested. I wonder what the media coverage would have looked like had Tea Party members done something similar.

Patents – Congress passed Patent reform legislation for the first time in 60 years. I do not know enough about the new law to know if it will work or if it will fail to stop U.S. corporate ideas from being infringed upon by global competitors.

Civility – Several liberals were arrested at a Paul Ryan town hall meeting.

Richard Trumka – Richard Trumka was one of Obama’s honored guests at his Jobs Speech. He authored an editorial on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 by honoring AFL-CIO union members. You have to read it to believe it – the article was nothing more than repulsive hate speech.

MSNBC – The network got a boost to its ratings when it covered the GOP debate held at the Reagan Library in California.

Paul Krugman – The classy NY Times columnist is calling Giuliani and Bush “Fake Heroes” who cashed in on 9-11. There is no question that Krugman is a divisive and polarizing figure, but he should try to put politics aside and attempt to unite citizens when our country faces such turbulent times.

Europe – The Euro crisis has flared up again over continued concerns about the Greece default situation. As a result, the Euro hit a 10 year low versus the Yen. Italy has also passed austerity measures to correct massive government shortfalls.

Campaign – The DNC has begun running TV ads in swing states to support the Presidents 477 billion dollar jobs plan. Good luck with that.

Obama’s Economic Plan – The plan sets aside 25 billion to fix “run-down” schools. This sounds noble, but nicer classrooms does not necessarily equate to a better education.

Afghanistan – The U.S. embassy in Kabul was attacked killing 10 people and wounding dozens more. This tragedy is a stark reminder that the situation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate despite the troop surge.
