Obama’s Lowlights (3/8/12)

Afghanistan - President Karzai, speaking with "jihadi leaders," about the admittedly inadvertent Koran burning by U.S. military troops in Afghanistan, Karzai wants them tried in his country.

Occupy Wall Street – In the latest move of civility, protestors have resorted to throwing urine filled balloons at police. In other new, occupier, Kyle Lawrence, from Colorado Springs suffered second degree burns while torching a historic town hall building.

Bradley Manning – The army private (who is going to serve life for treason) who leaked thousands of documents to Wikileaks has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Quotes – Jesse Jackson: “It’s an honor to be a Food Stamp President”. Democrat House Member Kathy Hochul “We’re not looking at the Constitution” when discussing the birth control mandate in ObamaCare. Obama on the Chevy Volt: "Five years from now, when I'm not president anymore, I will buy one and drive it myself."

UN - The UN is preparing to adopt a report praising the human rights record of the former government of deposed Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi. In other news, an official of the United Nations Human Rights Council has sternly warned the city of Sacramento over potential violations of international standards of human rights when the authorities removed homeless people from so-called “tent cities” in public parks.

Defense Budget - The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched.

Taxes - Three-quarters of likely voters believe the nation’s top earners should pay lower, not higher, tax rates, according to a new poll for The Hill.

Gitmo – The U.S. government just finished building a new soccer field for Gitmo detainees at a cost of 750 thousand dollars to American taxpayers.

Georgetown University – Students at the law school want government subsidized contraception – claiming they cannot afford to pay for condoms.

Climate Change – Here is the latest wacky report about the subject: “Britain faces years of freezing winters because global warming is causing Arctic Sea ice to melt, researchers have found.”

Auto Bailout – According to a national journal poll fifty-five percent of Americans still believe auto companies shouldn't have received government money in return for bad business practices.

Stockton California - City leaders seeking a way to dig out from under massive debts have taken a step toward making Stockton the nation's largest city to file for bankruptcy.
